A Modern Treatment Team Working For You

You deserve the best care available, and at Whole Wellness, you’ve found it. We utilize a unique “care team” approach, meaning that your therapist works together cohesively in a team environment to provide you with an individualized plan that will lead you to greater overall success in therapy. Tired of unresponsive medical offices and long waitlists? Us too! Our goal is for you to feel cared for, focused upon, and anything but just a number. We start by matching you to your primary therapist specifically based on your individual needs, schedule, and what you’re seeking to achieve. Your therapist will have education and experience in the areas that you most need help with. We then collaborate behind the scenes, utilizing one another’s expertise when creating individualized treatment plans for you that may include other services or staff members as indicated.

We believe in maintaining a diverse group of clinicians who have pointed strengths and training that can be applied to their work with you, which results in better overall therapeutic outcomes. We truly excel at providing collaborative care in order to offer a client various paths to success by utilizing a full range of cutting edge service options in mental health & medicine. We invest in our staff’s ongoing education by providing them with high quality trainings and novel certifications as we work to discover the latest research based techniques, and we provide extensive clinical supervision opportunities to our team so that we can always “keep the discussion going” and continue to grow in our connection to one another and our connection to our clients.

If at any time your treatment plan needs to change, you are interested in additional services, or you would like to involve your family, we will continuously assess and mediate the process to be sure we are providing the most effective therapeutic experience possible or adjust things as needed.

Note: All of our therapists & physicians are LGBTQ+ allies and have worked within this community therapeutically. We also support and work with all types of intimate relationship styles when providing couples and individual work. We are special population and BIPOC aligned.

Clinical Therapist

"I view every intake as the beginning of a new and exciting journey. I believe that every person has unique strengths and I love to find creative ways to use those strengths to empower my clients. The way that I approach one client, couple, or family may not always work for others. As such, my approach to therapy is very collaborative: you bring your expertise on your life experiences, feelings and needs, while I bring knowledge on therapeutic approaches on how we can align those needs. I also believe that therapy can be more than just talk; I like to incorporate art and activities as a way for clients to express themselves and go deeper. I look forward to meeting you and I hope that we can learn from each other."

Jennifer is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who received her Master of Science from St. John Fisher University. Buffy Curtis, MA, L-CAT, EMDR

Primary Therapist

“Bienvenido, Welcome! My approach to expressive mediums in the therapy space is to support personal expression of concepts we simply may not have words for. Creative expression through visual, musical, movement and drama mediums is a way for us to explore our personal symbols and resonance with aspects of ourselves that we sometimes are not consciously aware of; this external expression in a therapy setting allows for a witness to be present to help support us in remembering our inner knowing. The use of these creative modalities can help us to integrate the many facets of ourselves, connect in meaningful ways with our own creativity, build our self-esteem and self-awareness, as well as foster the ability to more clearly communicate our needs and wants with ourselves and those around us. You need not personally identify as an artist of any kind for these techniques to be helpful, each of us has our own expressive medium and all mediums are welcome in working with me; part of the journey is us determining what is your creative medium! I enjoy allowing others to explore a wide variety of materials that may include textiles, found objects, upcycled products, and more traditional mediums of drawing, painting, collage and sculpture. I welcome exploration of non visual mediums through the use of improvised instruments, our body as an instrument both musically and kinesthetically, role play or re enactment of important themes discovered in sessions, creative writing and any other form of expression you can imagine! In addition to working with creative expression I incorporate mindfulness, somatic practice and eclectic traditional talk therapy practices into sessions. I have training and experience in CT-R, DBT and safety based counseling for PTSD.You will always be the master of your path to healing and I look forward to co-creating the space for you to stand in your power and walk on your path.”

My priority is to provide a space where you can do this without judgment and feel heard and understood. When we take time to examine our thoughts and feelings we create an awareness that helps us move through life in a new way. No approach fits every person and my goal is to figure out the most helpful therapeutic methods and tools for each individual and that this is a collaborative process. I am repeatedly inspired by resilience, healing, and change I see in those I work with. It is an honor to hear each person’s story and I look forward to hearing yours."

Hannah Caruso, MS, (L)MHC, EMDR

Clinical Therapist

“I believe every person is a product of their own personal life experiences; how they view the external world. That said, providing and offering a safe, judgement free space for clients is key to achieving self-awareness and self-acceptance. I view the mind as a fast-working machine, that over time and routine, can develop mechanisms that may not be conducive for our well-being. The work in cognitive behavioral therapy recognizes the power of our mind and encourages us to reflect on our patterns of thinking. I believe self-awareness to be the prerequisite in achieving self-empowerment. I value therapist-client rapport above all, because sharing vulnerability requires reciprocated trust and dedication. Life as we know it is full of kinks that can be all too overwhelming to tackle, and especially alone. But cultivating that foundation between client and therapist is essential for a fulfilling therapeutic experience.”

Hannah Caruso, M.S., is a Master’s Level Mental Health clinician & EMDR trained therapist who earned her Master’s of Science from St. John Fisher University. Hannah utilizes a person centered, solution focused approach to her work with clients, and deeply recognizes the importance of the therapeutic connection needed to create long lasting change. Hannah’s therapeutic style is warm, humorous, and empathic, drawing upon the clients strengths in order to meet them where they are at while also encouraging growth and providing valuable feedback/encouraging the client to be more than a passive participant in their own life and decisions. Hannah has experience working with anxiety, depression, life transitions, eating disorders, relational issues, men’s concerns, and more. Shannon Swenson, M.S., (L)MHC

“Therapy can help us explore the many facets of life that make up who we are: Our past, our relationships, our goals, our struggles, and our strengths. Through therapy, we can uncover what makes our lives meaningful and our personal relationships fulfilling. As your therapist, I aim to create a non-judgmental space where clients can explore their interior worlds with curiosity and compassion. I utilize a warm and attentive presence to help clients feel comfortable “in the uncomfortable.” James Prochaska says “change is movement over time.” In my experience, this could not be truer. I believe that we can change and grow while accepting and loving ourselves right now, as we are.  I look forward to collaborating with you on this journey.”

Shannon earned her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from at St. John Fisher University. She has experience working with various presenting concerns including depression, anxiety, existentialism, life transitions, trauma, and bereavement / grief. She is also experienced in working with artists, older adults & geriatric populations, stress related to chronic health conditions, and individuals with disabilities.  Shannon utilizes an integrative approach with a focus on holistic wellness and relational growth.  Her counseling style is often informed by cognitive behavioral & dialectical behavior therapy, narrative therapy, existential therapy and art therapy.
